2021 DUMC Ministry Goals 2021
Amid what continues to be a challenging time in our history considering the pandemic conditions, our overall reaching goal is breaking down ecumenical barriers in the community and beyond and widening our understanding of beliefs and history which is outside of our Methodist doctrines. We hope that on any given day, there is some type of activity that is outside the “normal” realm of church life happening here…Our push must be OUTREACH – not in reach.
--Continue and grow the successful Community Meals Program which includes home delivery to shut-ins and families --Building on the success of this new 2020 project, we will expand the Clothing Closet project to be open throughout the year with the purpose of providing clothing when it is needed by community members --Continue the Community Garden project led by the dedicated volunteers and encouraging others to join the project with a focus to bring fresh produce to the community --Increase our congregational focus on prayer, building on the existing Monday morning group who meets to address the concerns/needs of our congregation and community --Continue with the relationships built with local contacts within the elementary and middle schools in regards to the social and economic needs of their student body --Working with local and Tama County law enforcement, Dysart Fire Department, and local EMTs to meet the needs of our community members --To focus on expanding the reach of Technology available to us to provide access to our services and activities to our members, community and beyond, and to, --Pledge to continue to meet challenges we face with open minds, sound judgment and helping hands to serve as the hands and feet of our Savior.
